Yannis Dimitriadis Elected New Poros Mayor


niki1Yannis Dimitriadis was elected Mayor of Poros on May 19, with 1,707 votes and 56.02 per cent of the vote. His opponent, Spyros Spyridon won 1,340 votes or 43.98 per cent. Some 1,462 registered voters did not turn up to the polls.
Dimitriadis takes office on September 1.
City council members elected with him are Angeliki Makri (292 votes), Yorgos Kaikas (244), Tassos Papachristou (237), Eleni Kanatsidi (227), Yorgos Koutouzis (223), Kostas Doskaris (218), Maria Varvarou (199), Thodoris Haraklanis (182), Vangelis Tzanos (168), and Kostas Gion (166).
Serving on the opposition with Spyridon are Matoula Mitsiopoulou (277 votes), Eleni Koutouzi (250), Vangelis Zentelis (248), Kaiti Roidi (212), Yorgos Mandilas (167), and Dimitris Moropoulos (166).
In the regional elections, there will be a run-off election on May 25 between the Syriza ticket, led by Rena Dourou, and the Pasok- and Democratic Left-back Yannis Sgouros. Poros’s Takis Hatziperos is a candidate for Deputy Regional Governor for the Isles on the Syriza slate.
Poros Mayor Dimitris Stratigos ran for Deputy Regional Governor for the Isles on the New Democracy-backed ticket led by Yorgos Koumoutsakos which did not make the run-off election.
