Town Council Meets on Waste Treatment System

Poros’s waste treatment system (BIOKA) will be the subject of the next town council meeting to be held Wednesday, October 31, at 2 p.m. in the Hatzopouleios Library.
The BIOKA’s inclusion as an agenda item was the result of a petition protesting the problems in the sewage system’s operation, including leaks into the sea near pumps and the intense odors along the waterfront and the western part of the island.
The petition, signed by 257 citizens and residents of the island, cited the damage caused by these problems to the quality of life and the downgrading of properties and business. It also demands immediate action to identify and implement solutions.
The meeting is open to all.
