Ready, steady…go Apokries!

DSCN0184Rev the motor of your remote-controlled car and hone your riddle-solving skills for the annual treasure hunt, one of several events organized by the Municipality of Poros each year on the final weekend of Apokries, or carnival.

On Saturday, March 1, head to the 2nd Elementary School for the local F1 of remote-controlled cars. Participation is open to anyone from age 6 to 106 and the flag drops at 10 a.m.

Then at 6:30 p.m. there’s a masquerade party in Plateia Dimarheiou for participants in Sunday’s treasure hunt. The fun starts at 6:30 p.m. with a contest for best costume followed by a party that starts around 8 p.m. when the treasure hunt’s first clue will be handed out. (In the event of rain, the contest and party will be held in the Syngrou Building.)

The weekend’s events end Sunday, the final day of Apokries, with the annual treasure hunt. Teams assemble at Plateia Dimarheiou at 9:30 a.m. for a 10 a.m. start.
