Island Tax Offices Stage 48-hour Strike

Staff at the Poros Tax Office (DOY) are expected to join a 48-hour strike called for October 30-31 by the tax office staff unions at all branches in the Cyclades and Saronic isles.
The strike was called after a plan to merge island tax offices was scrapped and the closure of all local branches ordered despite assurances to MPs representing these districts that these ranches would not be closed.
The Poros Tax Office has already been downsized and as from January 14, its duties will be transferred to the Piraeus tax branch (A DOY Peiraia). The Poros DOY also serves individuals and business on Hydra and in Troezenia.
It’s unclear which of the local tax office’s duties will be picked up by a new citizens’ service center (KEP) arms being set up to handle tax-related issues.
