Film Club Screens ‘Land and Freedom’ on February 24

landandfreedomKen Loach’s masterful drama Land and Freedom about a young unemployed Communist Party member who leaves his native Liverpool to join the anti-fascist side in the Spanish civil war, will be shown on February 24 at the Syngrou Building as part of the Poros Film Club’s Monday evening screenings.

The film is told in flashback through letters and other documents found by his grand-daughter after his death. It stars Ian Hart, Rosana Pastor, Tom Gilroy, Frederic Pierrot, and Marc Martinez and won the FIPRESCI International Critics Prize and the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury at the 1995 Cannes Film Festival.

Film starts at 7 p.m. and admission is free. The screenings are hosted by the Poros Citizens’ and Consumers’ Association film club.
