Digging the Past, Planning the Future

ksenagisiHistory and archaeology buffs this weekend is just for you: three events all with Poros’s archaeology at the center.
The Citronne Gallery opens the season early with a special exhibition of works by Cris Giannakos at the Poros Archaeological Museum. “Dialogue with Time” opens on Saturday evening and runs through May 18 (which is also Museum Day) through June 30. Opening hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. except Mondays.
Then, on Sunday morning, Arto Penttinen, director of the Kalaureia project, will lead a tour of the Temple of Poseidon archaeological site starting at 11 a.m. Bus leaves from Iroon Square at 10:30 a.m. for those without their own transportation.
Both events are a good segue into an open public meeting on Sunday evening. Share your love of history and your love of Poros with others by becoming a founding member of the Friends of Poros Archaeological Museum. The society holds its inaugural meeting at 7 p.m. in the Hatzopouleios Library.
